Every last tuesday of the month
For a lively jazz climate in our city, we not only need concerts by the very best jazz musicians, but there must also be opportunities to experiment and learn. Workshop Marit van der Lei
On April 22 and May 27, 2025, singer and band leader and band coach Marit van der Lei will give the workshop. Originally from Eibergen, she is a downright original singer who earned her stripes not only with her own Marit van der Lei Nextet, but also in the Kika Sprangers Large ensemble and with the vocal sorceress trio Free the Voices (with Anna Serierse and Sanne Rambags).
Marit's voice is inspired by the brass section of the formations she plays in, so the "returning toeter trainees" in the workshop could well be very surprised. Together with her extensive experience as a teacher at the Utrecht Conservatory, this means that it promises to be a very educational and surprising workshop.
It remains a surprise for a while what will be worked on, but it is fun to gain insights from this masterful musician. Participating in this double workshop costs €20,- for 2 evenings. When registering, we would like to know what instrument you play, what backline you may need and how much experience you have. You will be notified in advance if you can prepare something. Jamsession
At 21:00 the workshop will turn into a jam session that is free for the public. The jam session will be led by session leader Eric de Zeeuw to ensure a smooth process and there will be a sound technician to make it sound nice. The music will range from jazz standards to excursions into funk and soul or wherever the vibe of the evening takes us. Musicians can participate for free, but registration is appreciated. Then we can take your arrival into account. When you register you will hear which pieces of music we will use as a basis for this jam session. Backline
There is a sound system, microphones and some DIs. A simple drum kit can be arranged, but you can also bring your own drum kit. If you have any questions about sound, backline or instruments, you can email.
