Up and coming International Talent!
The successful concert series of the Wageningen double bassist/composer/producer is already in its eleventh year and has become an indispensable part of the rich arts & culture program that Wageningen offers. On Thursday, April 10, 2025, the German pianist/composer Lukas Mohl and the South Korean drummer Min Won will be guests. International up-and-coming talent will come to Loburg this time. It will be a special evening with two musicians from Gen Z.
Lukas Mohl
Born in southern Germany, pianist/composer Lukas Mohl is active in both Germany and the Netherlands, whose music and compositions are described as close to the heart and evocative, capturing the essence of sincere emotion and personal expression. His desire is not only to create, but also to share his musical endeavors with others. During his young career he has already played at renowned festivals such as Music Meeting Festival, AMPA Jazzronde, Jazz Festival Viersen and Jazz Festival Bamberg. He will graduate from ArtEZ University of the Arts in Arnhem in June and will most likely pursue a master's degree elsewhere in Europe.
Min Won
This South Korean drummer may not be that well-known to the public yet, but that will definitely change soon. He grew up in a village not far from Seoul, and then Min moved to the Netherlands to study at the ArtEZ University of the Arts, where he is currently pursuing his master's degree. Min's drumming can be described as refined, sharp, inventive and always fully committed to the music. He is currently pursuing his master's degree in Arnhem. In addition to drumming, he produces many different productions, including several productions in South Korea.
ArtEZ
During their studies in Arnhem, Min and Lukas took elective lessons with Jasper Somsen, Art of The Trio, where Lukas received his very first assignment to write and perform his own composition. It turned out to be the spin-off for a rapidly growing repertoire.
New album
The evening in Loburg is part of a (pre-release) album presentation concert series of the Lukas Mohl Trio. After the concert in Wageningen, there will be concerts in the Netherlands and in West and South Germany later in the year. The album “Speaking From The Heart” is the debut album of Lukas Mohl, which is entirely dedicated to Lukas' repertoire. The album will be released at the end of May in the series “Jazzthing – Next Generation” on the German label Double Moon. Jazzthing is the best-known glozzy jazz magazine in Germany. The album was produced by Jasper Somsen and Lukas Mohl.
